Description
Everything you need to know about Shule Mkononi and how to use it.
1. Site's Navigation
1.1 Left Side Menu (Main Controls)
When you log in, there’s a menu on the left side This menu has the three links:
- Home – takes you back to the main site page where you get to view sites announcements and different articles.
- Dashboard – shows the calendar and upcoming tasks it is customizable you can change it.
- My courses – shows only the courses you’re enrolled in.
1.2 Inside a Course (Sub-Navigation Menu)
When you open a course, the menu on the left changes.
It now shows the list of topics or chapters for that specific course.
Example: Topic 1, Topic 2, Quizzes, Assignments, Resources.
Instead of scrolling through a long page, you can click the topic name on this menu and jump straight to the section you want.
This is the fastest way to move inside a course.
1.3 Top Navigation (Breadcrumb Path)
At the very top of the page, you’ll see something like:
Home › Course Name › Topic
These are clickable.
You can tap any of the titles to go back to that page instantly.
Instead of pressing the browser back button multiple times, just click the title you want to return to.
2. Account Creation process
Guest Access
Before creating an account, you can access the system as a guest. On the login page, choose “Access as guest.” Guest access lets you open courses, read notes, explore the platform, and see how everything works.
Guests can only view. They cannot take quizzes, submit assignments, or track progress.
When you’re ready to participate fully, follow these steps to create your account.
2.1 Creating a Standard Account
- Go to the login page.
- Select a username and password that will be unique and make sure you do not forget them
- Click log in.
- Then you will land at Edit profile page fill the form with your details
- Update your profile
- Then you become a legit member.
After that, you will log in normally using your username and password. With your account, you can enroll in courses, take quizzes, submit assignments, and track progress.
2.2 Using OAuth 2 (Google Login)
There is another login option called OAuth 2. This lets you log in using your Google account instead of creating a new username and password.
How it works:

You click “Log in with your account on Google.”

The system redirects you to Google where you select your Gmail.
- The system will send you the confirmation email.

After you confirm, the system logs you in automatically.
- Then you can set up the profile once logged in by adding your username and password and use them instead.(optional)
It is fast because you don’t have to remember a password for the LMS.
